Tedd

Mixed Breed · Female · Adult · 7 years

Tedd landed as a found dog at our shelter, because his owners likely abandoned him. Tedd absolutely could not "adjust" to the situation at the animal shelter. His suffering was palpable, and a shelter worker contacted us after our first meeting with him. After we took Tedd into our care, it was clear that the little terrier needed a lot of peace and affection. Fortunately, he got the chance to start anew in one of our foster homes. Tedd is a true terrier, he is very active and loves to roam through forest and field. Since he probably didn't learn much in his previous home, he is still very unsteady on a leash and follows every scent. After his move into our foster home, it only took a few days for him to adjust to daily life. He is good with being alone, very cuddly, clingy, and trainable. In his new home, he will love all people, but we recommend a quiet environment with a single person or a couple without children and cats, preferably in the countryside. People with patience, empathy, and dog experience would be Tedd's ideal companions. If a garden is available, it should be escape-proof, as he, of course, will follow every interesting trail due to his breed. In our foster home, Tedd lives with a young, very quiet female dog. During the day, the two are alone in the house and sleep. However, encounters with other dogs are still a bit adventurous, as Tedd barks out of fear when making eye contact and would rather hide. We suspect that he was once attacked. Peace, patience, and training are needed, which we would be happy to offer together with our dog trainer. If you have the desire and time to get to know our clingy teddy bear or need more information, please contact Mrs. Klein by phone or email. We have filmed Tedd for you, here is the link to our recording:

DE·Show original

About Tedd

What life with Tedd looks like

Tedd is a small adult mixed breed dog waiting at Kleiner Gnadenhof e.V. in Schwaan / OT Letschow.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Tedd, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Tedd?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Kleiner Gnadenhof e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Tedd on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Tedd if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Kleiner Gnadenhof e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Tedd already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Tedd isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Kleiner Gnadenhof e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Tedd and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
