Teo

Mixed Breed · Female · Adult · 8 years

11-05-2018 - Look how our Teo has become, do you remember the condition he was in when he arrived at the animal shelter, because of a trap set by poachers? He is a very sweet and affectionate small dog. He is completely healed, both body and soul, now he just needs a home. Whoever adopts Teo will have a sincere friend. 16-04-2018 - Despite everything, Teo is happy, look at that big belly he has. This creature has been through so much, so much suffering, yet look how he still trusts humans. On his body the scars from the snare but he is a very kind heart. Now he just needs a home and blessed is the one who will have him as a lifelong friend. Click on the photos to enlarge them! 28-03-2018 - Teo is recovering, today he took his first walk outside. He is a very good dog, gets along with everyone. Do you see how he holds his tail straight up? This is his indicator of approval for his new home, the answer to how he feels with us. Go on Teo, the road is now downhill. Thanks to those who help us with their care. 23-03-2018 - Teo is recovering, the wounds are treated every day, he eats with appetite, he is very hungry and has become very sweet. Poor Teo he suffered so much. From the bottom of our hearts thanks to those who help us. Click on the photos to enlarge them! 21-03-2018 - Teo is slowly recovering. He is very thin, he needs to eat to regain strength and heal those wounds caused by human cruelty. His body torn by a wire, a forbidden hunting device that is penalized, but whose use unfortunately is still entrenched in Sardinia. The wires cause a slow and painful death to animals that are unfortunate enough to encounter them. He was certainly a poor stray dog, he wandered around the town with that steel noose embedded in his flesh. Now no one will harm him anymore. His gaze says more than a thousand words. Come on Teo, give it your all!! 19-03-2018 - He was rescued by a girl who noticed him as he was wandering scared, injured and in pain, with a steel cable tight around his hips. It was not easy to catch him, he went into a tunnel and it was necessary for firefighters to intervene. You can imagine his fear, but she did not give up and thanks to her determination, Teo was brought to safety. The cable was sized for capturing wild boar, the nails embedded in the abdomen, even the anus was affected by this noose that constrained his body. Any animal can fall into a poacher's trap, domestic or wild, but as long as a human being remains a victim of this barbaric practice used in every corner of the world, no one will do anything to finally eradicate this crime, as it is considered by law. It seems impossible that Teo managed to free himself from such a strong rope, more likely he was "set free" by the person who realized that it was not supposed to be a dog that was his victim. He was immediately taken to the clinic by the girl who rescued him and there he received the first aid, removal of the cable was the priority. Yesterday he was brought to the animal shelter, where we will take care of him and together we will try to give him a dignified future. Teo constantly seeks human contact, despite what he has suffered from humans. It is a phrase that not everyone can understand, but how many things could we learn from animals to live in a better world. 17-03-2018 - The slow massacre of poaching, those who fall into this brutal and illegal crime are destined to die through a slow agony. Teo is alive and now is under our protection, thanks to a wonderful person who did not remain indifferent to his pain. But how many Teo, of any species, die every day at the hands of these criminals? Tomorrow we will tell you about Teo, rescued a few days ago and arrived at the animal shelter today. We will tell you his story and what happens to a poor animal when it encounters human brutality.

About Teo

What life with Teo looks like

Teo is a adult mixed breed dog waiting at L.I.D.A. Olbia in Olbia.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇮🇹Adopting from Italy

Italian canili require adopters to sign a stewardship contract (affido) and may retain the right to verify the animal's wellbeing post-adoption. Animals are chipped and sterilized before leaving (Legge 281/91). Public canili rifugio typically waive adoption fees.

Frequently asked

Adopting Teo, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Teo?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. L.I.D.A. Olbia handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Teo on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Teo if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — L.I.D.A. Olbia will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Teo already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Teo isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with L.I.D.A. Olbia early rather than rehoming privately; they know Teo and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (IT). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
