Adopt Terreau

Male · Adult · 3 years

Terreau – Beauceron, for experienced adoption. Terreau is a very active dog, with a lively, athletic and sensitive temperament. Intelligent and strong, he will need a lot of physical and mental exercise to channel his energy. He gets along very well with other animals of the same species, males and females. He lived with two cats and another dog. Terreau has had very little contact with children, so it would be preferable not to have any in the household. He can be very abrupt. He can be left alone for a few hours but it may happen that he cries and opens the doors, he shows anxiety and has difficulty settling down. He is housebroken and has good training foundations, as well as a good recall. His balance will depend particularly on regular and appropriate canine social interactions. He will need a structured environment as well as consistent support. An adoption by experienced adopters in dog training, capable of offering him stability, security and work, is essential for him to progress calmly. His/Her contact person will present him in more detail during our meeting. If you would like to meet him, please make an appointment at 23.

About Terreau

What life with Terreau looks like

Terreau is a large adult dog waiting at SPA Genève in Geneva.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇨🇭Adopting from Switzerland

Swiss shelters require a home visit (Platzkontrolle) and proof of suitable accommodation. Cantons each have their own additional dog-keeping requirements (e.g. SKN training in some areas). Animals leave sterilized and chipped.

Frequently asked

Adopting Terreau, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Terreau?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. SPA Genève handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Terreau on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Terreau if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — SPA Genève will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Terreau already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Terreau isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with SPA Genève early rather than rehoming privately; they know Terreau and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (FR). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
