Tessa

Pointer · Female · Senior · 10 years

Tessa was abandoned by her owners in a war zone in south Lebanon in March 2026. She currently lives in a boarding facility and she is around 8 to 9 years of age. Tessa is neutered and completely blind from a previously injured eye. She had a mastectomy, we can provide the CT report if requested. Her spleen was removed due to a benign tumour and we have the biopsy report if of interest. She currently has one tumour on the remaining mammary chain. Ehrlichia and Anaplasma have been cleared via antibiotics. She is negative for Leishmania. Tessa is a calm gentle girl. Loves humans and is neutral with dogs. She walks on the lead and is child tested. She should be able to travel by the end of 2026. Would you give this old girl a comfortable life after all these years of difficulties? She is looking for a warm home to spend her golden years like the princess she is. She doesn’t ask for much and she is the nicest girl ever. Published 12/10/2026

About Tessa

What life with Tessa looks like

Tessa is a senior pointer dog waiting at Pointers in Need in United Kingdom.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Tessa, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Tessa?: Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Pointers in Need handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Tessa on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Tessa if I live in another country?: Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Pointers in Need will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Tessa already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?: Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Tessa isn't the right fit?: Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Pointers in Need early rather than rehoming privately; they know Tessa and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?: TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
