Tessa (w)

Mixed Breed · Female · Young · 2 years

Tessa is a 2-year-old, approximately 40 cm tall, who has spent her entire life in the Romanian animal shelter in Botoșani. She has been waiting there since she was a puppy, day after day, month after month. While many other dogs have had the chance to be seen, Tessa has always been overlooked. She has done nothing wrong. She was simply always the one who was ignored. Today, over 800 dogs live in this shelter. For each of them, this means daily stress, noise, uncertainty, and a constant struggle to survive. There are always territorial disputes and fights over food. The smaller dogs are often defenseless in these situations. They are afraid, retreat, and quickly fall under the wheels. We have noticed that time is taking its toll on Tessa. Every additional day in this environment takes away a little bit of her joy in life. And that's what worries us. Our German animal welfare colleagues have met Tessa personally and were immediately touched by her kind nature. She is a friendly, people-oriented, and gentle dog who is happy about any attention, no matter how small. She doesn't push herself forward; she is more of a quiet, gentle soul who just wants to belong. A dog who doesn't loudly call for help - and maybe that's why she was overlooked for so long. We are sure that there is much more to Tessa than the shelter can ever show. She deserves to finally feel grass under her paws, sleep in a soft bed, and experience what it's like to be loved and cared for. She should be able to learn that people don't just walk past her cage, but stay. That a caressing hand means security and that every new day can hold something beautiful. Maybe Tessa needs some time to settle in at first. That would be understandable after everything she has experienced. But we are convinced that with patience, love, and security, she will grow into a wonderful companion. Please help Tessa to finally be seen. Share her story, tell about her, and give her the chance to find her people. Maybe her home is waiting somewhere right now, the one she has dreamed of her whole life. Tessa is spayed, multiple vaccinated, dewormed, chipped, and of course has an EU passport. Before departure, we will perform a Snap-4D test. Contact: Tessa will be placed through the animal rescue organization Casa Katharina e.V. - with pre-control and a protection contract. The association naturally has the permission according to §11 Animal Welfare Act. We will also be there to support you after the adoption - for both humans and animals. Tessa will travel to Germany as soon as she is adopted and will arrive in 91278 Pottenstein, where she will be picked up by her family. There is a secure area available. Before you contact us, please make sure that the whole family is informed and agrees. Do you have your landlord's consent to keep a dog? Is the dog you already have at home okay with it? Are you ready to pick up your new family member in Pottenstein? Then we look forward to your inquiry.

About Tessa (w)

What life with Tessa (w) looks like

Tessa (w) is a small young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tiernothilfe Casa Katharina e.V. in Nürnberg.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Tessa (w), answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Tessa (w)?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tiernothilfe Casa Katharina e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Tessa (w) on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Tessa (w) if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tiernothilfe Casa Katharina e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Tessa (w) already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Tessa (w) isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tiernothilfe Casa Katharina e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Tessa (w) and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
