Tetley

Mixed Breed Cat Β· Male Β· Young Β· 2 years

πŸ’™ Could you be the person who finally shows Tetley that he is safe? πŸ’™ Sometimes, the cats who need a home the most are the ones who are easiest to overlook. Tetley is a handsome 2-year-old neutered boy who came into the care of RSPCA Bluebell Ridge from a multi-cat household. When he arrived, Tetley was sadly very poorly with cat flu and was feeling understandably frightened and vulnerable. Our team have given him lots of care, patience and TLC, and we’re so happy to see just how well he has recovered. ❀️ But Tetley still has a long way to go. This gentle boy is incredibly nervous and the busy environment of rescue life can be overwhelming for him. What Tetley desperately needs now is a quiet place of his own β€” somewhere he can finally feel safe, secure and loved. Tetley is a carrier of cat flu, so he must be the only cat in his new home. He also needs to be the only pet and would be happiest in a calm, adult-only household. His new family will need to understand that Tetley won’t necessarily rush over to greet them or immediately show them his affectionate side. He needs someone who will sit with him, talk softly to him, give him space and, most importantly, give him time. Time to realise he’s safe.Time to learn that he isn’t going anywhere.Time to trust.Time to become the cat we know is hiding underneath all those nerves. πŸ₯ΊπŸ’™ To make this transition a little easier, Tetley is available through our Foster to Adopt scheme. This gives his potential adopters the opportunity to foster him for a month, allowing Tetley to settle into a home environment and giving everyone the chance to see him truly come out of his shell before making the commitment to adopt. Tetley may need a little more patience than some of our other cats. But imagine how wonderful it would be to watch this frightened boy slowly realise that he finally has a family of his own. 🏑❀️ He has already been through so much. Now, all Tetley needs is someone willing to give him a chance. Can you be that person? πŸ’™ Give Tetley the second chance he so desperately deserves. πŸ’™ Scroll through the gallery of images above or click to open Not ready to adopt? About Tetley

What life with Tetley looks like

Tetley is a young adult mixed breed cat cat waiting at RSPCA Brighton & The Heart of Sussex in United Kingdom.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction β€” every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Tetley, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Tetley?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. RSPCA Brighton & The Heart of Sussex handles screening and the adoption contract directly β€” TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Tetley on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Tetley if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad β€” RSPCA Brighton & The Heart of Sussex will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Tetley already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported β€” ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Tetley isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work β€” that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with RSPCA Brighton & The Heart of Sussex early rather than rehoming privately; they know Tetley and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect β€” names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
