adoption requirements adoption process Now request this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Thalia has found a home! Her story: Thalia is a gentle and reserved female dog who hasn't yet mustered the courage to step out of her safe corner. She was brought to the shelter by the dog catchers and has struggled to adapt to her new environment. Most of the time, she spends in her hut, hiding and observing the world from a distance. She shows compatibility with other dogs, but her compatibility with cats has not been tested. An experienced only dog could help her gain security and show her that the world is not as daunting as she might think. Thalia is about 40 cm tall and weighs approximately 15 kg. At 1.5 years old, Thalia is in the late phase of puberty – a time when young dogs often need especially patient guidance. Her new people should help her with patience and positive reinforcement to build trust and slowly reduce her fears. For Thalia, we are looking for a quiet and sensitive home where she can arrive without pressure. People with patience and understanding for shy dogs will find a sensitive companion in Thalia, who needs time to build trust. She will not undergo a quick transformation, but with patience and loving support, she can learn that human proximity can be beautiful. Thalia travels neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and flea-treated. She possesses an EU pet passport and can be transported after a positive assessment. Would you give Thalia the chance to bloom in a safe home? A big thank you goes to Claudia, who gave Thalia the opportunity to start anew with her name! As of: 29.03.

About Thalia

What life with Thalia looks like

Thalia is a medium-sized adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Thalia, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Thalia?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Thalia on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Thalia if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Thalia already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Thalia isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Thalia and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
