Mixed Breed · Male

Hola! My name is Theo, I'm a Breton male, I weigh about 15 kg and I'm almost eight years old. My life hasn't always been easy. I was used for hunting, and when I got older and was no longer suited for it, I was worth nothing to my former owner. He even threatened to kill me. Fortunately, there were people who stepped in just in time and rescued me from that situation. That's why I now have the chance to start over. And that's exactly what I want. After all, eight years doesn't mean that life is over. 😊 What I wish for is actually quite simple: a home where I am respected, people who take care of me and with whom I can feel safe. A family I can belong to – not because I have to fulfill some purpose, but simply because I am Theo. I get along well with other dogs, both males and females. I am friendly and affectionate toward people. And even with cats, I have so far shown myself to be completely unobtrusive and friendly here at the shelter. Maybe my truly good dog life is only just beginning. 🐾 I would be very happy to receive a personal inquiry! Warm regards, Your Theo Theo is still looking for a godparent! About Theo

What life with Theo looks like

Theo is a medium-sized adult mixed breed dog waiting at Stiftung vergessene Hunde in Vergessene Hunde.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇨🇭Adopting from Switzerland

Swiss shelters require a home visit (Platzkontrolle) and proof of suitable accommodation. Cantons each have their own additional dog-keeping requirements (e.g. SKN training in some areas). Animals leave sterilized and chipped.

Frequently asked

Adopting Theo, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Theo?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Stiftung vergessene Hunde handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Theo on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Theo if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Stiftung vergessene Hunde will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Theo already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Theo isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Stiftung vergessene Hunde early rather than rehoming privately; they know Theo and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
