Thor

Mixed Breed · Male · Puppy · 5 months

Description Our animal welfare workers report: In its first few months of life, Thor had already experienced so much pain and fear that it seemed enough to last a lifetime. But it had an angel, Paula, who rescued it from the small intake shelter in Craiova and sent it to its cruel death at Breasta. Regularly, Paula is on-site to save at least some souls from their death sentence and pave the way to a happy life. No dog deserves to be at this place, in overcrowded cages, exposed to the elements without or with inadequate food and water, full of despair and hopelessness. That’s where Thor cowered alone, afraid, and lost in the corner of its death cell, until it was discovered. It was only 4 to 5 months old, a puppy. When Paula picked it up from the killing, she noticed fresh injuries. Thor was missing two toes on its right front paw, and the ball of its left front paw had been amputated, as if someone had used scissors. How much suffering and pain must the little Thor have endured? It’s unimaginable and beyond us. Paula took it directly to the animal clinic, where it was initially medically treated. It turned out that it was also suffering from parvovirus (a life-threatening highly contagious viral disease). Thor wanted to live and had its guardian angels on its side. It fought its way back to life. Since then, Thor has lived in Paula’s intake station with other dogs and cats in peace. It has learned to trust humans, plays with its fellow animals, and shows a natural curiosity typical of its age. Due to the injuries inflicted upon it, it is not as active as its peer-aged dog friends and more laid-back on its way. It is not suitable for long walks and hikes. Nevertheless, it still wants to discover so much, feel love, and finally arrive. We wish for him humans who value a quiet snout at their side, give him security, and share a large part of the day with him dozing. For Thor, an apartment with a small garden would be perfect. Who would like to give this special dog a life full of warmth, joy, and security and write a new chapter of happiness in his life together? He has earned it so much. Please note:. This animal can be anxious in unfamiliar situations. Some symptoms here are age-related.

About Thor

What life with Thor looks like

Thor is a large puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Tierischgeholfen e.V. in Germany.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Thor, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Thor?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierischgeholfen e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Thor on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Thor if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierischgeholfen e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Thor already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Thor isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierischgeholfen e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Thor and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
