Thor

Mixed Breed · Male

History of Thor does not belong to happy endings, but that doesn't mean he can't have one. How? It just takes one person to give him a home. That one person who will give him a home. Thor still has so much to experience – so many walks, good food, playtime, outings, and trips. And most importantly, so much love to give to a person. Let's not waste this. Such a life simply belongs to him! This wonderful dog came to our animal shelter in March 2022. He was intercedingly removed from his previous "home," where he had led a chained life as a dog. Unfortunately, for most of his life, no one taught him that a person could be nice, so from the beginning of his stay at the animal shelter, we worked together to help him make new friends, be calm, and most importantly, learn to live without a chain around his neck. We can certainly say that it has been successful! Today, Thor is a completely different dog. He is a wonderful cuddler and takes great joy in the attention given to him. For him, all hands are good for petting – whether they are big or small 🙂 He is an energetic, vivacious, and very intelligent boy who above all needs contact with a person. He is very eager to cooperate with the caregiver. Commands like "sit," "lie down," "come here," or "shake paw" came to him in a flash. He is also a big fan of ball games and other shenanigans at the shelter yard. Walking with Thor is a true pleasure – he masters the art of walking on a leash flawlessly, and in the forest, he is consumed by the world of smells, and he would spend the entire walk with his nose to the ground. Thor handles passing other dogs on walks very well. In the case of direct contact, he is curious but does not get overly friendly with all the doggy buddies. Thor also mastered the command "stay," so, if needed, he can be easily recalled. He has already shown us multiple times that he can form a friendly relationship with other dogs without provoking or seeking any conflicts. He derives great joy from playing with his buddies. After some getting to know each other, he could live in a home with other dogs. Thor can ride in a car. He is very curious about the world outside the window. The city does not scare him either. He does very well in a busy or lively neighborhood. Despite the enormous work he has done, some habits from his past life still remain with him. We know that at home, he may react worse to unknown guests, but we are convinced that with wise, understanding, and willing-to-work caregivers, this is something that can be overcome. For Thor, we are looking for a conscious, experienced caregiver who will be able to understand and meet his needs. Thor is ready for a real family and is waiting for his chance. We promise you that when he trusts and loves, it will be for good!

I przede wszystkim tyle miłości do oddania człowiekowi. Nie zmarnujmy tego. Takie życie po prostu mu się należy! Ten wspaniały pies trafił do naszego schroniska w marcu 2022 r. Dziś Thor to zupełnie inny pies.

About Thor

What life with Thor looks like

Thor is a adult mixed breed dog waiting at Schronisko dla Bezdomnych Zwierząt w Milanówku in Poland.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Thor, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Thor?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Schronisko dla Bezdomnych Zwierząt w Milanówku handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Thor on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Thor if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Schronisko dla Bezdomnych Zwierząt w Milanówku will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Thor already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Thor isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Schronisko dla Bezdomnych Zwierząt w Milanówku early rather than rehoming privately; they know Thor and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
