THOR

Mixed Breed · Male · Puppy · 4 months

Meet Thor—a roughly-year-old dog with a big heart, weighing about 22 kg, who dreams of his own safe home. Thor comes from Bulgaria, where he was a free-roaming dog. Unfortunately, his fate didn't turn out happily. He was brought to Poland by people who didn't take responsible care of him, and eventually ended up under the care of the "Przytul Sierściucha" Association in Myślenice. When Thor first arrived at the association, he was a dog full of fear—withdrawn, distrustful, and completely closed off in his own world. He could spend entire days curled up in a corner, avoiding any contact with humans. In his eyes, you could see fear, loneliness, and a deep lack of faith that people could be kind. Fortunately, he met some people who gave him time, patience, and their hearts. Thanks to the volunteers' tremendous dedication, Thor gradually began to open up to the world. Today, he joyfully greets familiar faces, looks forward to walks, and increasingly enjoys human company. He even has favorite volunteers whom he trusts and feels safe around. Thor still carries traces of his difficult past. He shows resource guarding behavior, so we're looking for an owner who is aware of dogs' needs and willing to continue working on building a strong bond with him. He's very afraid of mops and brooms—everything suggests that he may have experienced violence involving these items in the past. Even after all this time, memories of those moments remain vivid within him. On the other hand, Thor gets along wonderfully with other dogs! He thrives in canine company, knows how to communicate, and builds meaningful relationships. Other dogs give him confidence and help him find peace. Thor doesn't need a perfect home—he needs a person with a big heart who will give him time, patience, and understanding; someone who won't expect miracles from day one but will appreciate every small step forward. For the person who opens their heart and home to Thor, free behavioral support will be provided to help them navigate the adaptation process and build mutual trust together. Thor has already learned that not all people mean harm. Now he's waiting for the one special person who will show him that he's loved, safe, and that he'll never again have to fight for his place in the world.

Inne psy dodają mu pewności siebie i pomagają mu odnaleźć spokój.

About THOR

What life with THOR looks like

THOR is a medium-sized puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Fundacja Puszatek in Warszawa.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting THOR, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about THOR?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Fundacja Puszatek handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw THOR on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt THOR if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Fundacja Puszatek will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is THOR already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if THOR isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Fundacja Puszatek early rather than rehoming privately; they know THOR and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
