Mixed Breed · Male · Adult · 4 years

Hi there! I'm Thore (4), your new best friend for life? 🐾 I'm packing my suitcase and bringing along lots and lots of love! I'm a handsome, neutered mixed-breed male from Spain and have been living in Germany for about 6 weeks. My first foster home had to let me go, with a heavy heart, for private reasons, but now I'm gathering my strength for my forever home! That's me: an absolute people fan! My humans mean the world to me! I'm super affectionate, love cuddle sessions, and just want to make you happy. Model citizen on the lead: I've practiced diligently and now walk really well on the lead. Tolerant buddy: I'm perfectly fine with other dogs and absolutely compatible. To be honest, though, I don't really need them in my life. I politely ignore them most of the time and prefer to focus entirely on you! What I wish for: Sometimes the big, loud world still scares me a little, and I react a bit uncertainly in unfamiliar situations. That's why I wish for a rather quiet home (perhaps not right in the middle of the big city) and loving people who show me the world, holding my hand – or paw. If you give me security, I'll build trust with you in no time! Profile: Name: Thore Age: approx. 4 years Size/status: 50 cm shoulder height, approx. 17 kg, mixed breed, neutered, vaccinated & microchipped Compatibility: relaxed/indifferent toward dogs, extremely people-oriented Do you have a cozy bed and a little room in your heart to spare? Feel free to write me a short message with a self-introduction – I'm really looking forward to getting to know you! Tierheim Pirna E-Mail: hund-pirna.

Hola! About Thore

What life with Thore looks like

Thore is an extra-large adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierheim Pirna in Pirna.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Dogs and cats typically leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with an EU pet passport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Thore, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Thore?: Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Pirna handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Thore on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Thore if I live in another country?: Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Pirna will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Thore already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?: Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Thore isn't the right fit?: Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Pirna early rather than rehoming privately; they know Thore and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?: TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
