Adopt Bully

Mixed Breed · Male · Adult · 5 years

We are looking for loving godparents for Bully, who would like to support us with the costs for Bully. Bully came to Germany in late 2019 from a Spanish seizure at the age of seven to a foster home. Health-wise, the little man was already quite weakened. Due to his breed, he had very little air and his coat was patchy in many places. We don't want to imagine what might have already happened to him. Despite possible terrible experiences, Bully has remained true to his sunny disposition - cheerful, open, and cuddly. Upon arrival in Germany, Bully was immediately able to have a nose operation at the Leipzig specialist clinic by "Tiere in Spanien e.V." The operation gave Bully the gift of being able to breathe properly for the first time in his life. Unfortunately, Bully's suffering journey is not yet over. Bully tested positive for leishmaniasis. As a result, he received a 45-day Glucantime treatment, which he bravely managed, even though it cost him a lot of strength. Now, Bully is well controlled with Allopurinol medication. The next challenge was the issue of nutrition. For a dog that tests positive for leishmaniasis, an ultra-low purine diet is essential. It wouldn't be so bad if Bully didn't show several allergies. After some trial and error, in cooperation with veterinarians, we found the right diet. And most importantly, Bully really likes it. One would like to close his medical file now. Unfortunately, in September 2021, a Boxer Ulcus, a painful disease of the cornea in the eye, which is also very typical for the breed, occurred. This did not heal and after two months, the other eye was also affected. There followed weekly veterinary visits, numerous treatment plans, and three eye operations, which our Bully endured with great patience and courage. He came, despite everything, every week cheerfully and carefree to the clinics. There, Bully inspired all staff with his cheerful nature and wrapped everyone around his little finger with his charm. With an upcoming physiotherapy, we will try to counteract his back pain. Nevertheless, we hope that our little fighter has overcome the major obstacles of the last few years. Due to his long illness history and sensitive character, we have decided to keep Bully as a permanent foster care dog in his foster home. He has finally arrived and feels very comfortable. This is also because Bully has grown very fond of the experienced female dog Aiva and takes her as a role model. We are now urgently looking for loving godparents who would like to support us with the ongoing costs for Bully. Godparenthood is possible from 5 euros monthly. We would like to point out once again that most diseases and sufferings of a French Bulldog are breed-related. This breed and several others are not without reason called "suffering breeding". We understand the love for these wonderful characters, but we certainly do not support these breeds. Please inform yourself about "suffering breeding" and do not support them with a purchase. There are numerous dogs from the reputable animal protection.

About Bully

What life with Bully looks like

Bully is a large adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tiere in Spanien e.V. in Hamburg.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Bully, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Bully?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tiere in Spanien e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Bully on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Bully if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tiere in Spanien e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Bully already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Bully isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tiere in Spanien e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Bully and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
