Tierra

Mixed Breed · Female · Young · 3 years

Around 3 years old (born around February 22, 2023), 66cm, 27kg, female, spayed Leishmaniosis test negative on November 7, 2025 On a foster home in Switzerland Tierra - a XXL cuddly ball is looking for her soulmates Tierra is a large, beautiful Galgo mix dog with an even bigger heart. Those who meet her quickly notice: people are the most important thing to her. She loves being close to her caregivers and can't get enough of petting. Cuddling is definitely one of her favorite activities. Much in life is still new for Tierra. She hasn't been able to experience much so far and is now discovering her world step by step. In doing so, she shows herself curious, attentive and extremely eager to learn. She masters new tasks with amazing ease and you can really see how much joy it gives her to discover new things together with her humans. Tierra loves walks very much. Whether leisurely on the paths or through the forest, she is enthusiastic about it. Walking on a leash already works surprisingly well and with some further practice, she will definitely be a wonderful walking companion. As a Galgo mix dog, she takes her surroundings attentively and observes what's going on around her without being hectic or uncontrolled. Tierra is a sensitive dog that perceives fine moods and binds closely to her humans. This sensitivity makes her a particularly loyal companion because she likes to orientate herself towards her caregivers and builds a close, trusting relationship. With patience, understanding and loving guidance, she will develop into a wonderful companion. Therefore, we are looking for a quiet home for Tierra where she can have her humans all to herself. She feels most comfortable as a single princess, where she can enjoy the undivided attention of her humans. That's why we are looking for a place without children and without other animals. Her story began far from being beautiful. A young couple discovered Tierra and her brother Aire while hiking. They were probably abandoned far away from any civilization. The couple took them with them and hoped to find a loving home for them. Unfortunately, this search was unsuccessful. Two and a half years later, when the family got a baby and their financial possibilities became smaller, they had to give Tierra and Aire up at our partner animal shelter in Spain with heavy hearts. In the meantime, Tierra is on foster care in Switzerland where she develops further every day. There, she can be very happy to get to know her new home. Tierra is now waiting for people who will show her that she can stay forever. People who appreciate her loving nature and give her time to settle into her new life. By the way: Tierra is not alone in search of a home. Her brother Aire is still waiting in our partner animal shelter in Spain for his chance. If someone would like to adopt two dogs at once, this sibling pair would be a real dream team. Video July 26: Video Feb. 26: Video March 26:

About Tierra

What life with Tierra looks like

Tierra is a large young adult mixed breed dog waiting at home4dogs in Home4dogs.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇨🇭Adopting from Switzerland

Swiss shelters require a home visit (Platzkontrolle) and proof of suitable accommodation. Cantons each have their own additional dog-keeping requirements (e.g. SKN training in some areas). Animals leave sterilized and chipped.

Frequently asked

Adopting Tierra, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Tierra?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. home4dogs handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Tierra on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Tierra if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — home4dogs will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Tierra already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Tierra isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with home4dogs early rather than rehoming privately; they know Tierra and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
