Mexx

Mixed Breed · Male · Senior · 9 years

Breed: Shepherd mix Gender: male / neutered Age: born 20.10.2015 at the animal shelter since 11/2025 Character: people-oriented, playful Special features: dog experience required: yes Hello, my name is Mexx! I am a shepherd mix, but no one exactly knows which breeds are in me. What's more important is that I still have a lot of joy for life with my over 10 years. Playing with balls or jumping into every muddy puddle is simply part of the fun in life! I have already experienced a lot here at the animal shelter - I have done free runs, taken social walks and explored the forests around the animal shelter. My walks just don't last that long anymore, a quarter of an hour in a row is completely enough for me now. Also, I have naturally met many people. I am always cautious with strangers, but a few biscuits usually solve that right away. Other people outside don't bother me at all, as long as they leave me alone. Medically, I am doing well. I am not the youngest anymore, but I don't have any known illness. By the way, I recently had a dental cleaning, so my teeth are sparkling clean! All I need now is a home of my own. I just want someone who knows dogs and would like to spend the rest of my life together with me. An small garden would be the best, so I can relax outside a lot besides the short walks. Small two-legged beings should not live in the household and also fellow animals are not needed for me to be happy. And what do you think? Would you like to give a lovable senior like me a chance? Und, was meinst du? Schreib mir an This email address is being protected from spambots. About Mexx

What life with Mexx looks like

Mexx is a small senior mixed breed dog waiting at Tierschutzverein Rosenheim in Rosenheim.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Mexx, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Mexx?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein Rosenheim handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Mexx on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Mexx if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein Rosenheim will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Mexx already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Mexx isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein Rosenheim early rather than rehoming privately; they know Mexx and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
