Adopt Dumbo

Mixed Breed · Unknown · Baby

Dumbo is looking for a loving home. Dumbo is an approximately one-year-old rabbit with a very special story. He is a very lively little guy who enjoys playing tricks and shows himself to be very kind and trusting towards people. Dumbo can be easily petted and enjoys the attention. However, due to a dental misalignment, Dumbo has special needs: he cannot eat hay normally and therefore receives constant "Critical Care" so that he can take in enough food. In addition, his teeth must be trimmed every 14 days because they do not wear down on their own due to the misalignment. Therefore, it is important in indoor housing to keep a close eye on his eating behavior. Dumbo copes well with his situation and is, despite everything, a cheerful and active rabbit. In addition, Dumbo once had a broken leg. Although it has healed well, his leg is slightly crooked. However, this hardly bothers him in daily life, and he copes well with it. Dumbo has already been spayed. For Dumbo, we are looking for a loving home with people who are willing to take care of his special needs and give him the necessary attention and care. Despite his small issues, he is a wonderful rabbit who brings a lot of joy into the home. It would be perfect if he had a companion to play, run around, and snuggle with. About Dumbo

What life with Dumbo looks like

Dumbo is a puppy/kitten mixed breed rabbit waiting at Tierschutzverein Rosenheim in Rosenheim.

Rabbits are social animals — most shelters recommend adopting them in bonded pairs rather than alone. They need fresh hay daily, several hours of out-of-cage time, and rabbit-safe spaces to explore. They live eight to twelve years, longer than many people expect.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Dumbo, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Dumbo?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein Rosenheim handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Dumbo on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Dumbo if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein Rosenheim will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Dumbo already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most rabbits on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Dumbo isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein Rosenheim early rather than rehoming privately; they know Dumbo and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
