Hopsi

Mixed Breed · Male · Young · 1 year

Breed: European Shorthair Color: Tabby-White Gender: male Neutered: yes Born approx: 04.2025 suitable as a second cat In the animal shelter since: 30.11.2025 Hopsi – a quiet observer with great potential Hopsi is one of three brothers who were caught during a castration action. Together with Kasper and Flori, he was initially allowed to stay at a foster home, where they began to slowly socialize him with people. Due to external circumstances, however, this foster home had to be unfortunately abandoned, and so Hopsi came to us at the animal shelter. Hopsi has not yet had many opportunities to gain positive experiences with people. Nevertheless, it has already become clear that he is approachable with patience and calm handling – he was already touched at the foster home. Currently, he prefers to observe from a safe distance, but his behavior gives hope that he will thaw quickly with the right support. He is very social with fellow animals and strongly oriented towards them. A home with an existing cat of a similar age or together with one of his brothers would be ideal for Hopsi and would give him additional security. After acclimatization, Hopsi also wants to enjoy outdoor access again. A quiet home without children is important so that he is not overwhelmed and can build trust at his own pace. Who gives Hopsi a home, gives a quiet tomcat the chance to gradually come around and open his heart. About Hopsi

What life with Hopsi looks like

Hopsi is a large young adult mixed breed cat waiting at Tierschutzverein Rosenheim in Rosenheim.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Hopsi, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Hopsi?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein Rosenheim handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Hopsi on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Hopsi if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein Rosenheim will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Hopsi already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Hopsi isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein Rosenheim early rather than rehoming privately; they know Hopsi and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
