Tiger

Mixed Breed · Male · Adult · 5 years

Tiger arrived at our shelter in January 2026 as a found puppy from Swarzędz. His story is full of questions, and though we would very much like to answer all of them, the truth may never be known. One thing we are certain of - the separation from the person who brought him to us was a huge blow for Tiger. One that leaves a deeper mark than just in his heart. Tiger is a fearful dog. He does not trust humans, feels uncertain, is tense, and on edge. He growls, shows his teeth, and when it seems like he might start to trust someone - it quickly becomes clear that it is not yet the right moment. When he feels threatened, he can defend himself effectively - he warns with his teeth, he can bite. This is not aggression by choice. It is fear that says, "Don't come closer, because I am afraid." We suspect that similar behaviors may have also been exhibited at home, and perhaps that is why he found himself in an animal shelter. Tiger is not an "easy" dog. He is not a candidate to be a couch potato cuddle buddy from day one. He is a dog carrying difficult experiences within him and needs time, peace, and a very aware caregiver. Tiger is looking for a home that understands that trust is a process, not a switch. A home without children, without pressure, without expectations "to already." In return, he may one day give something very valuable - the trust of a dog that has learned the world is not always safe… but it can be. If you have experience, patience, and a heart ready for a difficult but true relationship - Tiger is waiting. For his moment. For his person.

PL·Show original

About Tiger

What life with Tiger looks like

Tiger is a adult mixed breed dog waiting at Schronisko Skałowo in Poland.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Tiger, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Tiger?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Schronisko Skałowo handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Tiger on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Tiger if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Schronisko Skałowo will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Tiger already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Tiger isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Schronisko Skałowo early rather than rehoming privately; they know Tiger and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
