Tikila

American Bully · Female · Adult · 6 years

This is a gentle, cautious and humble girl with a great need for closeness, togetherness and love. Beneath her somewhat cautious exterior lies a curious and fun personality that emerges more and more when she feels safe and comfortable with her people. She enjoys forest walks and discovering the world at her own pace, while also being a wonderful companion dog who is happy to accompany you on your daily adventures. She is easy to motivate and wants to develop and have fun together. Tikila would have appreciated finding a common activity where you can grow and develop together. She is a cozy, affectionate and loving girl with a cautious exterior but a curious, fun side underneath. She longs to find a home with her own place on the couch, a natural place in bed and above all a natural place in someone's heart. The most important thing for her is a safe home where she can land, be loved for who she is and feel that she belongs, a home where she can have time and the opportunity to blossom into the fantastic individual we know is there underneath. Tikila may find handling scary, so it's important that you handle and train her at her own pace in a positive and reward-based way. She loves cuddles and wants to be close to her people. She considers herself a lap dog and likes to seek physical closeness, whether it's to snuggle up, lie close on the couch or just be where the family is. Tikila wants to feel like an integral part of the family and she feels best when she can be with, feel a sense of community and have her people close. Therefore, she is looking for a home where she can become a real family member and where there is time, security and a lot of love to give. We are looking for a home outside the city center for this girl as she appreciates the natural life and the peace. We believe she would have been happy in a suburban area where there is a moderate amount of movement. She would like to have walking buddies but wants to live as a single dog at the moment. We do not know how Tikila reacts to small children and are therefore looking for a home with older children who are experienced with dogs.

SV·Show original

About Tikila

What life with Tikila looks like

Tikila is a adult american bully dog waiting at Hundstallet in Stockholm.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇸🇪Adopting from Sweden

Swedish shelters require an adoption application and home visit. Animals are chipped, vaccinated, and sterilized. Cross-border placements within the EU use the standard pet passport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Tikila, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Tikila?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Hundstallet handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Tikila on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Tikila if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Hundstallet will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Tikila already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Tikila isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Hundstallet early rather than rehoming privately; they know Tikila and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (SV). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
