Tikka RESERVED ID No: 1045414 Breed: Labrador Retriever-mixed Age: approx. 08/2016 Gender: female shoulder height: approx. 76 cm neutered/Sterilized: Yes Accommodation / Location: Marbella (Spain) Inquiry Form The beautiful Tikka (born approx. 08/2016) impresses not only with her size of approx. 76 cm, but above all with her really great character. She is always in a good mood and balanced. She loves people - especially children, whether small or big - and enjoys being cuddled and pampered by everyone. She usually gets along very well with the other dogs in the animal shelter, but she prefers not to be with dominant fellow animals. She does not get along well with cats. Tikka is already familiar with life in a house, has had basic training and walks well on a leash. She loves going for walks and is always very happy when her dog walker picks her up for an outing into the greenery. Tikka was handed over to the animal shelter Triple A (Marbella/Spain) by her previous owner in October 2019, because living with the cats no longer worked. Since then, the beautiful giant has been waiting in the animal shelter for the signal to start a life with people who truly love her. We hope for Tikka a place where she can settle in without stress and where she is given time to become familiar with the many new impressions and noises. Since Tikka has already experienced life in a house, she will probably not have much difficulty adjusting. Tikka is intelligent and wants to please her people. Despite her now advanced age, Tikka likes to be in nature and will certainly enjoy many shared activities. However, cuddle sessions should not be neglected, because Tikka needs a close bond with her humans. Due to her size, Tikka is not a dog for beginners. Her new people should be physically and mentally up to the task. A rather non-dominant fellow animal would also be welcome, from which she could still learn a lot. We are sure that Tikka will quickly become a beloved family member in the right hands, from whom you will never want to part. Tikka's new home should preferably be on a single level, because due to her size, many stairs should be avoided for her in the long term.

About Tikka

What life with Tikka looks like

Tikka is a small adult labrador retriever dog waiting at Helfende Hände e.V. in Germany.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Tikka, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Tikka?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Helfende Hände e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Tikka on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Tikka if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Helfende Hände e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Tikka already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Tikka isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Helfende Hände e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Tikka and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
