Tilda

Mixed Breed · Female · Kitten

All Cats Tilda — Published: July 27, 2026 Breed: EKH Age: approx. 2018 Gender: female Spayed: yes Color: tricolor Living situation: outdoor access, only with same-species cats We took Tilda from our partner association, Tierhilfe Hoffnung. She is one of 23 cats who lived together with 114 dogs on a farm and were rescued by the animal protection police. Tilda had found her home. Her people were soooo happy with her and speak in the highest terms about this “dream cat”—BUT the male cat already living there simply couldn’t get along with her. He’d had bad experiences with other cats in the past, and so Tilda had a really tough time. She noticed his insecurity and made it very easy for him to trust her—but unfortunately, his fear turned out to be greater than expected. Thus, Tilda sadly had to pack her bags. We really tried hard to make it work, but there’s only so much you can do. Of course, Tilda has now been able to get to know us extremely well. She’s described as an absolute lover of her own species who absolutely deserves to move into a home where exactly such a cat—or several—await her and welcome her with open paws. She also really likes people, but they come second for her. Tilda loves being petted once she knows and trusts her humans. She’s a cat who enjoys being part of family life very much and has also taken to outdoor access wonderfully. She’s familiar with cat flaps, and if you’d like to meet this dream cat, please get in touch with us. Ideally, there shouldn’t be small children in the household. A couple or a single person would be perfect. After building trust and during the adjustment period, it would be great if she could enjoy outdoor access in a residential area with little traffic. About Tilda

What life with Tilda looks like

Tilda is a puppy/kitten mixed breed cat waiting at Tierheim Alsfeld in Germany.

Kittens are tiny chaos engines for about six months and then mellow rapidly. They need two scheduled feedings, a litter box per cat plus one extra, and somewhere high to climb. Spay/neuter happens around six months — most shelters arrange this before adoption.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Tilda, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Tilda?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Alsfeld handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Tilda on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Tilda if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Alsfeld will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Tilda already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Tilda isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Alsfeld early rather than rehoming privately; they know Tilda and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
