Adopt Timmy

Mixed Breed · Male · Young · 3 years

Approximately 3 years old (born around 01.01.2023), 45 cm, 10 kg, male, castrated. Leishmania test was negative on 15.05.2026, will be tested again before departure. Still in the animal shelter in Spain. Timmy has already experienced a lot. Timmy is a dog who has made enormous progress in our partner shelter. His past was anything but easy, and this was reflected in his behavior at first. When he arrived at the shelter, he was very frightened and withdrew completely. But with a lot of patience, calmness, and loving care, he has gradually learned to trust again. And he becomes braver every day. Timmy has no problems with other dogs, although he is rather a quiet observer and doesn't interact much with them. He enjoys walks in the countryside and already walks beautifully on a leash. He particularly loves rolling in the grass or in the dirt – he often comes back with a completely white, dusty snout. Timmy's health is very good. After his castration, a so-called granuloma – an inflammatory tissue change or a small tissue nodule that can sometimes occur after operations – developed. This was surgically removed as a precaution so that it would not cause him problems later. The healing process went smoothly and everything is beautifully healed. Timmy's story also touches us deeply. One day when Maria, the director of our partner shelter, visited the Perrera (the state animal shelter), she was urgently asked to take a certain dog with her: Timmy. His former home had become the scene of a tragic incident. The owner was found dead, initially it was suspected to be a crime and the husband was arrested. Later it turned out that the woman had died of natural causes. When the police entered the house, they found Timmy trembling and full of fear hidden in a corner. He was then taken to the Perrera. The former owner then tried every day to get Timmy back – often heavily under the influence of alcohol. Each time, Timmy reacted panically to his presence and hid in a corner out of fear. Therefore, they did not want to return him to him. Fortunately, Maria eventually took him to our partner shelter. For Timmy, we now wish for a loving home with people who show him that there is also a life full of safety, security, and affection. He needs some patience and understanding at first, but we are convinced: Once he realizes he has arrived, Timmy will become an incredibly happy and grateful companion. Videos March - May 26:

About Timmy

What life with Timmy looks like

Timmy is a medium-sized young adult mixed breed dog waiting at home4dogs in Home4dogs.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇨🇭Adopting from Switzerland

Swiss shelters require a home visit (Platzkontrolle) and proof of suitable accommodation. Cantons each have their own additional dog-keeping requirements (e.g. SKN training in some areas). Animals leave sterilized and chipped.

Frequently asked

Adopting Timmy, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Timmy?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. home4dogs handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Timmy on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Timmy if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — home4dogs will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Timmy already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Timmy isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with home4dogs early rather than rehoming privately; they know Timmy and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
