Timon und Pete (Wohnungshaltung)

Unknown · Young · 1 year

I’m Timon, and about a year ago, I came to the Karlsruhe animal shelter from a holding facility along with 35 other cats. My life up until then hadn’t been easy, and it left deep scars on me. From the very beginning, I was extremely shy and wouldn’t let anyone touch me. The people here at the shelter really put in a lot of effort: they practiced with me every day, tried out different approaches, and showed me lots of affection. Even after a year, though, I still don’t let anyone touch me. It’s not because I’m mean—it’s simply that I can’t yet understand that people don’t want to do anything bad to me. At heart, I’m a very empathetic and loving cat; I just need more time to be able to show that side of myself. I observe a lot and have learned that there are familiar people who truly have my best interests at heart. With them, I no longer immediately hiss—I only do it when someone gets too close, because that’s when I start feeling scared. There have also been some lovely moments: I’ve started playing with people from a safe distance. That was a big step for me, even if I did take a few steps backward afterward. I get along wonderfully with other cats and learn a lot by watching them. That helps me to keep learning. However, I first need time to build trust with my human caregivers before another cat would make sense for me. Once I’ve learned to trust people, having a feline companion would be wonderful for me. I’m looking for a very special home—people who have experience with anxious cats and know that my journey will be a long one. I’ll need plenty of time, love, and above all, patience in a calm, structured environment. Ideally, my new home would offer the possibility of outdoor access—not because I’d be allowed to go outside safely, but because just having that option gives me a sense of security. It’s entirely possible that I’ll never be ready to go outside—but knowing that I could, if I wanted to, would help me immensely. We’re thrilled that you’re interested in Timon. The best thing to do is send us an inquiry right away. Then you’ll become Timon’s sponsor. Of course, Timon would also be grateful for individual monetary and material donations.

About Timon und Pete (Wohnungshaltung)

What life with Timon und Pete (Wohnungshaltung) looks like

Timon und Pete (Wohnungshaltung) is a young adult cat waiting at Tierheim Karlsruhe in Karlsruhe.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Timon und Pete (Wohnungshaltung), answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Timon und Pete (Wohnungshaltung)?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Karlsruhe handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Timon und Pete (Wohnungshaltung) on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Timon und Pete (Wohnungshaltung) if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Karlsruhe will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Timon und Pete (Wohnungshaltung) already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Timon und Pete (Wohnungshaltung) isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Karlsruhe early rather than rehoming privately; they know Timon und Pete (Wohnungshaltung) and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
