Tino

Mixed Breed · Male · Adult · 5 years

Adopted from another shelter. In the shelter since: January 17, 2026. About Tino: Our little burr Tino is a very people-oriented, friendly mixed-breed dog who loves being right in the middle of things rather than just watching from the sidelines. He’d love nothing more than spending the whole day with his humans. For a long time, Tino didn’t have any people around him at all—and now he’s eager to make up for lost time. He ended up with us through a roundabout route, originally coming from Portugal, where he spent five years of his life alone on a farm. During that time, he obviously didn’t get to experience much, and now he’s catching up on all that he missed. A dog shelter in Portugal helped him out considerably; it was there that he was taken in after things didn’t work out with his own family. Tino is incredibly people-oriented and just wants to do everything right. Sometimes he needs a bit of guidance to figure out how best to behave in different situations. His biggest challenge is learning to stay calm. He can quickly become extremely restless and excited—but he’s currently learning how to sit still and enjoy watching the world together with his humans. And he’s getting better and better at that. Tino walks wonderfully on the leash when asked to. Dog encounters and certain environmental stimuli are often difficult for him, so there’s still some work to be done here. He’s friendly toward female dogs and neutered male dogs; a calm first dog in his new home would be a great fit. Tino has leishmaniasis. However, he doesn’t currently need any medication for it. Who’d like to finally give this adorable little burr a real life?

DE·Show original

About Tino

What life with Tino looks like

Tino is an adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierheim Lübeck in Lübeck.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Dogs and cats typically leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with an EU pet passport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Tino, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Tino?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Lübeck handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Tino on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Tino if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Lübeck will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Tino already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Tino isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Lübeck early rather than rehoming privately; they know Tino and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
