TIPI

Mixed Breed · Unknown · Senior · 10 years

Year of birth: 2016 TIPI arrived at this breed animal shelter in 2019. We do not know his past, but it is certain that he was not well-treated by humans. TIPI is an intelligent, readable dog who is very in control of humans. He has a high ego. He is not a dog that can be easily directed as one pleases. He sets the boundaries for cooperation. After a longer period of getting to know him, TIPI reveals himself as a sensitive and social dog. A dog who possesses a very wide range of communication. Unfortunately, he is also a fearful dog (often what a human reads as a form of joy and positive excitement is nothing more than a typical stress management strategy – flattery). Care must be taken when petting. TIPI signals when he wants to be petted and when he does not. This must be done delicately, not aggressively, because any form of coercion can result in aggression from his side. TIPI also defends his resources, be careful when feeding him, do not approach him then, do not bother him, because he may bite. TIPI looks neat in his harness and leash. He loves long walks and also water baths. He often chooses the route he wants to go. He reacts differently to other dogs. He does not like large and aggressive dogs, he then attacks them with aggression. But he also has a good attitude towards some of the dogs he has chosen. He is cautious and unsure around strangers. He barks and growls to deter intruders in the kennel run and on walks. TIPI has returned to adoption several times. From the descriptions of behaviors of both caregivers towards the dog, neither of them took precautions and incorrectly interpreted the communication signals the dog was sending. Despite this, TIPI is a dog who can cooperate with a caregiver and can be loved. He simply needs time and the right approach from the caregiver. TIPI needs a quiet home, as well as an experienced caregiver who will respect his space and build good relations with him, and who will also seek help from a behaviorist in certain situations. TIPI would best find a home with a yard where he can have freedom, a home without children and other animals. This animal is not suitable for homes with children.

Rok urodzenia: 2016 Tipi trafił do schroniska w 2019 roku. To On wyznacza granice do współpracy.

About TIPI

What life with TIPI looks like

TIPI is a senior mixed breed dog waiting at Schronisko dla Bezdomnych Zwierząt w Zielonej Górze in Zielona Góra.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting TIPI, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about TIPI?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Schronisko dla Bezdomnych Zwierząt w Zielonej Górze handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw TIPI on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt TIPI if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Schronisko dla Bezdomnych Zwierząt w Zielonej Górze will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is TIPI already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if TIPI isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Schronisko dla Bezdomnych Zwierząt w Zielonej Górze early rather than rehoming privately; they know TIPI and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
