Adopt Toby

Mixed Breed · Male

This little lad had been running around our village with no place to call home. The neighbours were feeding him and keeping him safe, knowing he’d eventually be taken off the streets and into our care. With almost no stray population here now, our villagers have become wonderfully kind to the few dogs who still appear — and Toby was one of them. Toby is a sweet, gentle small boy — Mini Jack Russell–mix size with slightly longer legs, but still very dinky. Because everyone looked out for him, he’s not afraid of people at all. In fact, he adores them. He’s already had everything done and is fully prepared for adoption: Neutered Passport ready Brucellosis tested negative Healthy, safe, and ready to travel Toby is brilliant with other animals and people: Ignores our cats Loves children Lives happily with around 15 other dogs with zero issues He’s the perfect little companion for a family, a couple, or anyone wanting a small, loving, easy going dog. If you’re interested in offering Toby his forever home, please message us. And PLEASE SHARE — it truly helps him find his family. Home check and adoption fee apply.

About Toby

What life with Toby looks like

Toby is a small adult mixed breed dog waiting at Santerpaws Bulgarian Rescue in Bulgaria.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇧🇬Adopting from Bulgaria

Bulgarian shelters typically include full vet workup, sterilization, and passport. Many coordinate with EU rescue partners for direct transport to adopter cities in Germany, Netherlands, and Austria.

Frequently asked

Adopting Toby, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Toby?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Santerpaws Bulgarian Rescue handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Toby on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Toby if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Santerpaws Bulgarian Rescue will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Toby already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Toby isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Santerpaws Bulgarian Rescue early rather than rehoming privately; they know Toby and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
