Adopt Toku

Mixed Breed · Male · Senior · 11 years

Toku and Szent Maci were surrendered as dogs due to the death of their owner. Toku is a large-sized spotted mixed breed male born in October 2014, who had to exchange his familiar environment for a life in a kennel together with his companion. Toku is already used to being with a family, so he is used to a leash and would be able to continue his life in an apartment or a house with a yard. Active, curious dog. Loves to play with balls and play. Very much needs human company. We are looking for a permanent home for them where they will never have to experience anything bad again and can happily settle in as real family members for the rest of their dog life. We hope he will also have an Angel, who will prove that life is beautiful and that people can be trusted, a responsible own owner, a own family and home are the best things in the world! Microchipped, vaccinated and neutered, can be adopted. More pictures HERE!

About Toku

What life with Toku looks like

Toku is a small senior mixed breed dog waiting at Noé Állatotthon in Budapest.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇭🇺Adopting from Hungary

Hungarian shelters operate at high capacity given the country's stray population. Animals leave sterilized, chipped, and with a passport. Many shelters coordinate transport to Germany, Austria, and the Nordics.

Frequently asked

Adopting Toku, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Toku?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Noé Állatotthon handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Toku on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Toku if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Noé Állatotthon will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Toku already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Toku isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Noé Állatotthon early rather than rehoming privately; they know Toku and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (HU). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
