adoption requirements adoption process Adopt this animal now! adoption requirements adoption process Tolkin stays forever in his Romanian foster home! His story: Tolkin wants to be your companion. Tolkin, is a charming Husky with fascinating blue eyes and an elegant black, gray, and white coat. With his imposing appearance and five years of life experience, Tolkin is on the lookout for a loving home. Just like Thallulah and Baxter, the original owner has thankfully agreed to let us find a caring home for the three of them, where they will be loved and cherished. Unfortunately, in Romania, it is still the case that dogs are not treated like family members, so we are even more excited to be able to find a family for Tolkin and his family that will allow him to live the life he deserves. Maybe Tolkin is the perfect companion for your family? Tolkin is most likely a purebred. As typical for Huskies, he is energetic, intelligent, and has a friendly nature. But also a strong hunting instinct is typical for this breed. Therefore, we wish for people who can use him in a breed-appropriate and species-appropriate way and who may already have experience with Huskies. The handsome male dog is active and loves to be outdoors. His loyalty and protective instinct make him a wonderful companion for people who understand and value his needs. Tolkin travels neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and flea-treated with an EU pet passport to his new home. We would also be very happy about a foster home for Tolkin. Are you ready to give Tolkin a loving home and the attention and movement he needs? Then he could be your new perfect companion. Many thanks to Marnie! You named Tolkin. Date: 19.07.

Vielen Dank an Marnie! Du hast Tolkin seinen Namen geschenkt. Stand: 19.07.2024

About Tolkin

What life with Tolkin looks like

Tolkin is a adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Tolkin, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Tolkin?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Tolkin on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Tolkin if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Tolkin already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Tolkin isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Tolkin and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
