Tom

Mixed Breed · Male · Puppy · 4 months

foster home in Vukovar/Kroatien Tom – clever young dog wants to be part of a family Tom was found together with five other puppies on a field, far away from any human settlement. Very likely, the small dogs were simply abandoned and left to their fate. When they were discovered, the puppies were in no good condition – hungry and thirsty, full of fleas and worms. Luckily, they were quickly secured and moved into a loving foster family, where they finally received the care and attention they so desperately needed. Meanwhile, Tom and his siblings have wonderfully recovered. Some of his siblings have even traveled to Germany and found a wonderful home there. Tom has also developed well in his foster home and has already learned a lot. He gets along well with other dogs and even with cats. He is an intelligent, open-minded young boy who already knows the house rules and is already quite well-behaved on the leash. Among his siblings, Tom gladly takes on the role of the little leader. As befits a young dog, Tom is curious, playful, and full of energy. He loves to play with his siblings and discovers something new every day. For Tom, we wish to find an active home where he will be given the time to settle in and feel at home. People who enjoy showing a young dog the world, training him, and giving him a loving, permanent home are what Tom needs. With patience, love, and shared time, Tom will surely become a faithful companion for life. Tom is neutered, vaccinated, dewormed, microchipped, and has an EU pet passport. All our dogs travel vaccinated and microchipped with an EU pet passport. They are only placed after a positive assessment. About Tom

What life with Tom looks like

Tom is a small puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Tierhilfe Pfotentraum Chance auf Leben e.V. in Linden.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Tom, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Tom?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierhilfe Pfotentraum Chance auf Leben e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Tom on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Tom if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierhilfe Pfotentraum Chance auf Leben e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Tom already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Tom isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierhilfe Pfotentraum Chance auf Leben e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Tom and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
