Tomita

Mixed Breed Cat · Male · Young · 1 year

Tomita - a heartbroken cat finally seeks a home Sometimes life writes stories that break your heart. A few weeks ago, Tomita was attacked by two dogs in the middle of the night. Only because an animal-loving woman was awakened by their loud barking and immediately ran outside could she chase them away and save his life. But fear remained. When she returned from a week-long trip, she found the handsome cat completely terrified under her garden pavilion. He had hidden there and no longer dared to come out. Gradually, she gained his trust, fed him food and water, and was finally able to secure him, castrate him, and provide medical care. It quickly became clear: Tomita is not a cat that wants to live on the street. He constantly seeks human proximity. During the great summer heat, he was allowed into the house - and there it showed what he really wanted: He slept content in bed, relaxed near his people and enjoyed every caress. He suffers greatly from being alone and just wants to belong. His behavior suggests that Tomita used to be a cat living in an apartment and then heartlessly abandoned. The outside world frightens him. Passing cars, airplanes, unfamiliar noises - even flies scare him. Nevertheless, he has retained his loving nature. Tomita is a cuddly, human-oriented cat who likes to sit with or lie on his humans' laps. He can be lifted up without any problems, even if he prefers to decide when it's time for cuddles. Even outside, he reliably uses the litter box - another sign that he knows life in a home. Unfortunately, Tomita does not get along very well with other cats. That is why we are looking for him as a single prince, where he can enjoy his people's undivided attention. Of course, Tomita has already been neutered, chipped, vaccinated and tested negative for FIV and FeLV. After everything he has experienced, there is nothing we wish for him more than a safe home where he will never have to be afraid again. A place where he is loved and can finally arrive. Who will give this wonderful cat the second chance he so desperately deserves? ❤️ Would you like to get to know Tomita and give him a loving home? Then please fill out our placement questionnaire. You can find it on our homepage under "We look forward to your inquiry - maybe Tomita is waiting for you right now."

About Tomita

What life with Tomita looks like

Tomita is a large young adult mixed breed cat cat waiting at Notfellchen Rumänien e.V. in Germany.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Tomita, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Tomita?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Notfellchen Rumänien e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Tomita on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Tomita if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Notfellchen Rumänien e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Tomita already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Tomita isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Notfellchen Rumänien e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Tomita and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
