Adopt Tommie

Mixed Breed · Male · Adult · 5 years

A heartwarming story about the sweet Tommie, he was found at a campsite. Very thin, dirty and with many bald spots from parasites and that in the cold. He has developed into a very kind, calm tomcat, gentle by nature and just very nice. Slowly he is recovering more and more, he is gaining body weight, is neutered and is actually ready for the next step, a new and safe home. He should be able to get along with children and other animals, but rest is also important for him, so it needs to be a quiet home for him. It seems as if he is not interested in going outside, but we are also unsure, after all, he has wandered outside. Therefore, we are looking for at least a home where he can go outside or has a safe balcony. He must have had a home before because he is certainly used to human contact. In short, a nice, sweet tomcat looking for a safe, warm home, we suspect he may have a flea allergy, but otherwise Tom is completely healthy. Estimated age between 3 and 5 years old.

About Tommie

What life with Tommie looks like

Tommie is a adult mixed breed cat waiting at Flappus in Netherlands.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇳🇱Adopting from Netherlands

Dutch shelters typically require a household assessment and an adoption contract. Animals are routinely sterilized, microchipped, and registered in the national pet database (NDG) before placement.

Frequently asked

Adopting Tommie, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Tommie?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Flappus handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Tommie on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Tommie if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Flappus will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Tommie already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Tommie isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Flappus early rather than rehoming privately; they know Tommie and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (NL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
