Adopt Toni

European Shorthair · Male · Adult · 5 years

over: 🍀 FIV positive My name is Toni and I am a true Frenchman. I was brought from France to Stuttgart. Here, I was allowed to move in with a lady. Unfortunately, she was a bit overwhelmed by me, so I had to move out. Now I sit here in the animal shelter waiting for my people. At first, I was quite shy and would chase people away if they got too close to me. But now I am very open and cuddly with my trusted people. I demand attention and sometimes I might suddenly be lying on your lap. But we cats are our own beings, and if I want my peace, you should let me have it. Sometimes I can also be grumpy and might give a little paw slap. I love food more than anything. You have to keep me in check so I don't get too fat. Additionally, I don't really like it when people take things away from me. But who knows cats and our quirks, will get along just fine. Unfortunately, a recent blood test revealed that I am FIV positive. I am doing well, though. I don't really like other cats. However, at my previous owner's place, I was also bitten by another cat, which probably made me wary of my fellow animals. 🙈 Suitable for apartment living as a single prince and with people who have a lot of time for me, I would be best off. I do not want to give up my large, screened-in balcony; I have a lot of energy and come up with silly ideas if I am not kept busy. Of course, my dream would be a secure outdoor area in the form of a secure garden. Due to my FIV condition, I unfortunately cannot be in an unsecured outdoor area. Children should not be here, as I prefer peace and quiet and you should be able to read a bit. Do you think we would be a good match? Then please send an email and tell me a bit about yourselves!

About Toni

What life with Toni looks like

Toni is a large adult european shorthair cat waiting at Tierheim Stuttgart in Stuttgart.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Toni, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Toni?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Stuttgart handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Toni on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Toni if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Stuttgart will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Toni already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Toni isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Stuttgart early rather than rehoming privately; they know Toni and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
