Adopt Torrija

Podenco · Female · Young · 2 years

Animal shelter Galgos en Familia Input 13 April 2026: Torrija arrived with her loyal companion Mollete. They were left together in a small village in Málaga. Fortunately, there was a kind woman who did not abandon them and fed them every day until they could be safely brought to the shelter. She told us how excited and grateful they were every time they saw her coming - a small ray of light in their uncertain existence. Torrija and Mollete are inseparable. They care for each other lovingly, seek each other out to cuddle and always stay close to each other. Their bond is particularly touching to watch. We know little about their past, but one thing is certain: they belong together and have always been together. For Torrija (and preferably together with Mollete) we are looking for a warm and safe home where they can stay together. A place where they feel loved, can rest and finally enjoy life as it was meant to be. Torrija is a kind, calm podenco of two years old who gets along well with other dogs. She is currently being treated for Leishmania. The size of Torrija is currently unknown and has been requested at the animal shelter. Would you like to give Torrija - and maybe also Mollete - a loving future?

About Torrija

What life with Torrija looks like

Torrija is a medium-sized young adult podenco dog waiting at description in AL Ridderkerk.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇳🇱Adopting from Netherlands

Dutch shelters typically require a household assessment and an adoption contract. Animals are routinely sterilized, microchipped, and registered in the national pet database (NDG) before placement.

Frequently asked

Adopting Torrija, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Torrija?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. description handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Torrija on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Torrija if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — description will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Torrija already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Torrija isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with description early rather than rehoming privately; they know Torrija and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (NL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
