Adopt Toyo (zusammen mit Yota)

European Shorthair · Male · Young · 1 year

"Yota" and "Toyo" are two sensitive brothers who initially meet new people with a bit of caution. However, they readily allow contact and once they build trust, both become very cuddly and enjoy the company of their humans. "Yota" has become increasingly braver and often ventures out of his hiding spots. He visibly delights in human company and is developing into an open and affectionate tomcat who thoroughly enjoys cuddles. Despite a mild ataxia that causes him to wobble slightly when walking, this does not hinder his happy and normal cat life. His missing eye also does not affect him. "Toyo," on the other hand, shows clear signs of stress at the animal shelter, which is noticeable. Currently, he still does not eat independently and is therefore hand-fed, which he accepts calmly. Since "Toyo" no longer has any teeth, he only receives mousse or very fine paste. The two brothers get along well with other cats. They could therefore be rehomed with an already existing calm and social cat or an equally relaxed tomcat. "Yota" and "Toyo" are closely bonded and will therefore only be rehomed together. For them, we are searching for a quiet home in a suitable apartment with a secure balcony where they can enjoy fresh air and sunlight. Children should not live in the household as both are very sensitive cats that require a quiet environment with minimal disturbance. This cat is to be kept indoors only.

About Toyo (zusammen mit Yota)

What life with Toyo (zusammen mit Yota) looks like

Toyo (zusammen mit Yota) is a young adult european shorthair cat waiting at BMT Tierheim Elisabethenhof in Germany.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Toyo (zusammen mit Yota), answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Toyo (zusammen mit Yota)?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. BMT Tierheim Elisabethenhof handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Toyo (zusammen mit Yota) on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Toyo (zusammen mit Yota) if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — BMT Tierheim Elisabethenhof will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Toyo (zusammen mit Yota) already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Toyo (zusammen mit Yota) isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with BMT Tierheim Elisabethenhof early rather than rehoming privately; they know Toyo (zusammen mit Yota) and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
