Treacle

Mixed Breed Cat · Female · Senior · 16 years

Hello, my name is Treacle... and I'm hoping someone might have a little space in their heart for an old girl like me. For many years, I had a home of my own and a person I loved very much. We spent our days together enjoying the simple things, quiet company, cosy naps, and plenty of fuss and affection. But sadly, my owner passed away, and suddenly my whole world changed. Now I find myself here at the rescue. Everyone is being so kind to me, but if I'm honest, I'm finding kennel life a little difficult. After so long in the comfort of a home, all the strange noises and unfamiliar faces can feel a bit overwhelming. I miss having a sofa to curl up on and someone to sit beside at the end of the day.I'm around 16 years old, but please don't let that put you off. I may be an older lady, but I've still got lots of love to give and plenty of life left in me. My favourite things are gentle fuss, kind words, and having someone nearby to keep company. I don't ask for much, just a warm bed, a quiet home, and a human who doesn't mind sharing their lap every now and then.I think I'd be happiest in a calm, peaceful home without children or dogs, where I can settle in at my own pace and enjoy the quiet life I've always known. I don't need grand adventures anymore. The greatest adventure I could imagine now would simply be finding someone to love me again.I've loved once before, and I know I could do it all over again. All I need is someone willing to give an old sweetheart a second chance.Could you be the one I've been waiting for? About Treacle

What life with Treacle looks like

Treacle is a senior mixed breed cat cat waiting at National Animal Welfare Trust in Watford.

Senior cats are the gentlest house guests: predictable, mostly silent, and grateful for a sunny windowsill. Older cats often have minor dental or kidney issues — keep an eye on water intake and weight. Many sleep eighteen hours a day and want no part of any drama.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Treacle, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Treacle?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. National Animal Welfare Trust handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Treacle on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Treacle if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — National Animal Welfare Trust will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Treacle already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Treacle isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with National Animal Welfare Trust early rather than rehoming privately; they know Treacle and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
