Trevor

Mixed Breed · Male · Adult · 4 years

Trevor is 4½ years old, yet he has already spent almost his entire life with us. He came to us when he was only a few months old, carrying the scars of trauma that no puppy should ever have to experience. Those early experiences have stayed with him. When Trevor first meets you, he can be frightened and very nervous — particularly around men. He needs time to understand that you are safe. He needs someone who won’t give up on him simply because he doesn’t immediately run over with a wagging tail. But here’s the thing about Trevor… Give him time. Give him patience. Give him your trust — and he will give you his heart. Once Trevor knows you, he is a completely different boy. He becomes loving and affectionate, and one of his favourite things is to jump up and gently rest his paws on you, almost as if he’s saying: “Please stay. I trust you.” 🥹❤️ Trevor gets along with other dogs, loves his food and treats, and absolutely adores the people who take the time to understand him. Our volunteers have earned his trust, and he loves seeing them. What Trevor needs now is someone special.Someone willing to come to the finca and spend time with him.Someone who might volunteer with us, sit with him, walk with him, feed him treats and simply allow a relationship to grow naturally. Someone who understands that Trevor doesn’t need fixing — he needs understanding. There HAS to be someone out there for Trevor.Someone who will look past his fear and see the beautiful soul underneath.

About Trevor

What life with Trevor looks like

Trevor is a large adult mixed breed dog waiting at Finca La Castellana in Alicante.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇪🇸Adopting from Spain

Spanish protectoras generally include sterilization, all vaccinations, microchip ID, and EU pet passport in the adoption fee. Many maintain partnerships with rescue transport providers across the EU.

Frequently asked

Adopting Trevor, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Trevor?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Finca La Castellana handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Trevor on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Trevor if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Finca La Castellana will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Trevor already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Trevor isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Finca La Castellana early rather than rehoming privately; they know Trevor and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
