Trixi

Mixed Breed · Female · Young · 2 years

female Foundling/Stray Born ca. 2018 EKH neutered [x] yes / [] no At the animal shelter since 22.07.2024 ________________________ We test every cat with a quick test for FIV ("Cat AIDS", info here!) and FeLV ("Cat Leukemia", info here!) and clarify the status. We inform about the risk of FIP disease ("Feline Infectious Peritonitis"). ________________________ The pretty Trixi came to us with her three kittens from Stadtallendorf. They had settled on a farm there, suffering from a heavy parasitic infestation and were very congested. Additionally, at Jordi, a FIP outbreak occurred, which was successfully treated here. Her three children are already well rehomed, but Trixi is still waiting for her perfect place. She is an experienced stray cat who has never had trust in humans and also avoids contact with us at the animal shelter. She mostly withdraws and becomes active when it is quieter in the house. We are looking for a very special place for her with a lot of patience and understanding, where she can simply be present without being expected to become more friendly or trusting. Trixi likely developed Feline Asthma as a stray cat, probably due to a cat cold infection. Any inhalation therapy is out of the question for her, as she is too shy and panicky. Currently, she does well, but if there are any signs, a corticosteroid treatment (given with daily tablets) could be helpful, provided she can be given it with her food. She is compatible with other cats but does not seek their company constantly. She would prefer a place with tolerant, unobtrusive fellow animals where she can orient herself. We would be happy if Trixi could get a home with a cat door, but she is also suitable as a yard cat with a safe introduction and a comfortable retreat area, and she would certainly be a good mouser. Trixi very much wishes to have a nice, cat-friendly place to call her own after a long time in the animal shelter! ________________________ (As of 29.04.2026) (Click the images to see them in full size!) The description only reflects how the animal is currently behaving at the animal shelter. It is possible that the animal will behave differently in its new home with you and your upbringing! About Trixi

What life with Trixi looks like

Trixi is a young adult mixed breed cat waiting at Tierheim Marburg in Marburg.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Trixi, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Trixi?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Marburg handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Trixi on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Trixi if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Marburg will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Trixi already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Trixi isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Marburg early rather than rehoming privately; they know Trixi and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
