Trixie

Mixed Breed · Female · Puppy · 6 months

Our animal rescuers report: In a wooded area near the resort town of Borsec, a mother dog raised her puppies. Maria, our dear local animal rescuer, and her sister provided food for the dog family and caught and spayed the mother dog when the puppies were about 8 weeks old. They were already starting to leave their den and were in danger of being discovered by people who would either take them to chain them up on their farm as guard dogs or by dog catchers who would bring them to a killing station to collect money. About 2 weeks after her spaying, the mother dog did not return to her puppies. She is presumed to have fallen victim to a wild attack. Maria and her sister took care of the 4 remaining sisters, placed them in a private foster home and gave them the names Trixie, Tora, Tea and Tia. There they were safe, had contact with people and were cared for. Trixie and her sisters lived in a fenced property, played with each other and dozed off into the day. They gave each other support and developed a strong bond with each other. What they lacked for their development were any environmental stimuli. They did not know life in a house or an apartment, nor life in a city. They also did not have any bad experiences. They are therefore raw diamonds that still need to be carefully polished. Trixie and her sisters behave with strangers as reserved as suspicious. However, familiar reference persons are greeted with joy and enjoy the caresses from them. When Trixie and her sisters just turned 6 months old, the living situation of the foster family changed, and they were temporarily accommodated in a pet hotel. Tia was successfully placed, and Tea made it to a foster home in Bocholt on July 25. Trixie and Tora remained in Romania and have been suffering very much since the separation from their sisters. In order for Trixie to continue to develop positively, she needs a home in the near future, where she is given a framework with rituals and routines in which she can develop her potential under guidance. The imprinting by her caring mother and the positive experiences with people are very good prerequisites that Trixie can develop into a friendly, social and cooperative everyday companion. She is still growing and will probably reach a medium size of around 55 cm. We wish for Trixie that she finds people who encounter her with patience and love and take on the beautiful task of accompanying and guiding her on her further way. Who lets this sweet puppy into his heart, gives her security and a happy future? Please note: The feedback from the animal shelters and foster homes reflects the current behavior of those here to

About Trixie

What life with Trixie looks like

Trixie is a medium-sized puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Tierischgeholfen e.V. in Germany.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Trixie, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Trixie?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierischgeholfen e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Trixie on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Trixie if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierischgeholfen e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Trixie already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Trixie isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierischgeholfen e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Trixie and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
