Trixie

Mixed Breed · Female · Young · 2 years

Trixie is a likely 2024-born, spayed mixed-breed female dog that was wandering in a village in search of food, caught and brought to the animal shelter of our Hungarian partner organization. She has a very friendly, people-oriented nature and spreads good mood. Interested and curious, she explores her surroundings, shows attention and enjoys every activity. She enjoys petting, is very teachable, lively and easily motivated. Trixie would be a lovable family dog, with which families with older, understanding children would also have a lot of fun. Due to her immense affection, she should not be left alone in the garden in the absence of her caregivers, as she may try to overcome the fence to follow them. In general, Trixie gets along with her fellow dogs, but sympathy decides with some females. Therefore, we recommend her as a second dog to a male. It is not known how she reacts to cats. She wants loving and active people who have enough free time, patiently educate her and preferably live on the outskirts of town or in the countryside. Some experience in dog keeping should already be available. The female has a shoulder height of 41 cm and weighs 10 kg.

About Trixie

What life with Trixie looks like

Trixie is a medium-sized young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Animal Care Hungary.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇭🇺Adopting from Hungary

Hungarian shelters operate at high capacity given the country's stray population. Animals leave sterilized, chipped, and with a passport. Many shelters coordinate transport to Germany, Austria, and the Nordics.

Frequently asked

Adopting Trixie, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Trixie?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Animal Care Hungary handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Trixie on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Trixie if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Animal Care Hungary will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Trixie already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Trixie isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Animal Care Hungary early rather than rehoming privately; they know Trixie and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (HU). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
