Tucker

Poodle · Male · Senior · 9 years

02-10-26 Tucker is a calm and quiet boy who has come into our care from a breeder in search of a new start. He is an easy boy to pick up and handle and enjoys a gentle fuss. Tucker is currently kennelled with another male as he is quite an amorous boy, but we think he would also be fine to be homed with a suitable female, who could provide him with some companionship and reassurance as he settles into his new home. As Tucker has never lived in a home before, he will need to learn all about house training, lead training and the other basics of home life. His new family will need to give him time and patience while he gets used to his new surroundings. He can live with dog-savvy teens, aged 13+ who are sensible and will allow him time to settle in. Tucker has a Grade 3 heart murmur and is currently underweight. He also has bilateral cataracts and will need a dental, which is to be expected given his older age. His adopters will need to be prepared for any ongoing care and monitoring that may be recommended. Tucker would love a calm and quiet home where he can enjoy a slower pace of life, with a warm and comfy bed to curl up in and all the creature comforts he deserves. We hope he can find a loving family who will give this gentle old boy the chance to retire in comfort and enjoy his well-earned home comforts. He has a travel document. This dog can be homed with a resident dog.

About Tucker

What life with Tucker looks like

Tucker is a senior poodle dog waiting at Many Tears Animal Rescue in Llanelli.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Tucker, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Tucker?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Many Tears Animal Rescue handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Tucker on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Tucker if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Many Tears Animal Rescue will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Tucker already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Tucker isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Many Tears Animal Rescue early rather than rehoming privately; they know Tucker and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
