Adopt Tutti

Male · Senior · 12 years

Description Our animal welfare workers report: Tutti currently lives in a dog shelter with fellow animals. Regularly, there is work done with Tutti to mentally stimulate him, making him more balanced. When the herder mix arrived, he was nervous and very mentally stressed, so the local animal welfare workers placed him in a specialized shelter with professional dog trainers to prepare him for rehoming. Tutti gets along well with fellow animals, except with dominant male dogs, as he does not submit and gives resistance. He loves the children of the shelter owner, who are 10 and 12 years old, and he interacts wonderfully with them. Cats also live in the shelter, but Tutti tolerates them, but would not need them in his new home. So far, he has not shown any food aggression or clear territorial behavior. He greets strangers kindly and allows them to touch and pet him everywhere. Tutti would like to continue working (e.g., search and rescue) and please people. Tutti has had two trainers so far, a man and a petite woman, and he got along well with both, always listening to instructions. A lot of positive training has been done with him. His trainer believes that Tutti could also adapt to a city environment, as his character is well-established and he is sovereign in response to environmental stimuli. According to his trainer, Tutti is also suitable as a free-roaming riding companion, showing no prey drive. Dog sports are also a possibility for the now versatile male dog. Tutti is a multi-talented individual and would enrich any home! Active people with enough time for this wonderful, intelligent fellow, with existing dogs (without dominant male dogs!), will surely be happy with Tutti. He can be part of a family or an individual home, and both are fine for Tutti. No fears, in any regard, have been observed. For the fearless Tutti, we are looking for very responsible people who would like to work with him and mentally stimulate him. Of course, he is still far from being a "perfect dog," but he is on the right path. We wish for him to continue to be lovingly and mentally balanced. No known illnesses. The tests for typical Mediterranean diseases are still pending. Please note:

About Tutti

What life with Tutti looks like

Tutti is a large senior dog waiting at Tierischgeholfen e.V. in Germany.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Tutti, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Tutti?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierischgeholfen e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Tutti on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Tutti if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierischgeholfen e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Tutti already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Tutti isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierischgeholfen e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Tutti and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
