Tux

Mixed Breed · Unknown · Puppy · 6 months

Breed: Staffordshire Bull Terrier/Springer Spaniel/Cocker Spaniel Age: 9 Months Approx Tux is a fun loving young lad who came to us for rehoming through no fault of his own. He lived in a busy household with 7 children and other pets, meaning that he wasn’t getting the time and attention he deserved. He’s a great little character! He’s really friendly, sociable and full of life! He’s super happy and excited to say hello to everybody, and we believe he will settle into a new home really quickly. He could live in a family home with children over 5yrs, but he can be boisterous… so any children in the home would need to be used to dogs. He seems to be good with other dogs, and just wants to play. He may be able to live with another dog (preferably a spayed female), but this would depend on a dog meeting. He’s not cat tested, but has lived with rabbits etc. He’s still a puppy, and has a lot of energy… he will need a lot of exercise and stimulation in his new home, to prevent him from becoming bored. He does suffer with some separation anxiety, so this will need some work in his new home – he would need a home where he’s not going to be left much initially until he feels more comfortable.

About Tux

What life with Tux looks like

Tux is a puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Ashbourne & District Animal Welfare Society in United Kingdom.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Tux, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Tux?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ashbourne & District Animal Welfare Society handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Tux on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Tux if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ashbourne & District Animal Welfare Society will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Tux already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Tux isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ashbourne & District Animal Welfare Society early rather than rehoming privately; they know Tux and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
