Ursula

Domestic Shorthair · Female · Senior · 14 years

“Gregarious female cat” Born: January 2012 Looking for a home: A quiet home in suitable for apartment living with a secured balcony, without other animals, Ursula, born in 2012, is a very nice and gregarious cat who likes to be near her people. She enjoys company but does not like to be lifted high or stroked for long periods. When she seeks proximity, she comes on her own and will then allow a brief stroking – otherwise, she simply enjoys the shared company. Ursula suffers from epilepsy and requires her medication twice daily at fixed times. Therefore, regular veterinary check-ups, blood tests, and higher medical costs must be planned for in the future. In new or unfamiliar situations, Ursula may initially tend to defecate and urinate outside the litter box. This behavior has settled with us in the shelter over time but may temporarily reappear upon moving to a new home until she becomes accustomed to her new environment. For Ursula, we are looking for a quiet home in suitable for apartment living with a secured balcony, without other animals, with cat-experienced people who are reliable, respect her needs, and give her the necessary peace and stability.

About Ursula

What life with Ursula looks like

Ursula is a small senior domestic shorthair cat waiting at Tierschutz Austria in Vienna.

Senior cats are the gentlest house guests: predictable, mostly silent, and grateful for a sunny windowsill. Older cats often have minor dental or kidney issues — keep an eye on water intake and weight. Many sleep eighteen hours a day and want no part of any drama.

Note from the shelter: Has epilepsy requiring twice-daily medication at fixed times, needs regular veterinary checkups and blood tests. May have temporary litter box issues when adjusting to new environments.

🇦🇹Adopting from Austria

Austrian shelters follow the federal Tierschutzgesetz framework: adopters sign a Schutzvertrag (protection contract) committing to the animal's welfare. Spay/neuter, microchip, and vaccinations are included; fees typically range €150–€350.

Frequently asked

Adopting Ursula, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Ursula?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutz Austria handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Ursula on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Ursula if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutz Austria will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Ursula already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Ursula isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutz Austria early rather than rehoming privately; they know Ursula and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
