Ushi zoekt een bijzondere thuis. Ushi kwam op een leeftijd van ongeveer 3 maanden bij ons binnen, samen met een nestgenootje. Al snel werd duidelijk dat ze nauwelijks ervaring had met menselijk contact. Bij jonge kittens verloopt de socialisatie met mensen vaak gemakkelijker. Omdat Ushi deze belangrijke periode grotendeels heeft gemist, vraagt het opbouwen van vertrouwen bij haar meer tijd en geduld. Dat betekent niet dat Ushi nooit aan mensen zal wennen, maar we moeten realistisch blijven over wat we van haar kunnen verwachten. Een standaard gezin met kinderen, meerdere huisdieren, regelmatig bezoek of een druk huishouden is dan ook geen geschikte omgeving voor Ushi als binnenkat. Wat zoeken we dan wel voor Ushi? Een rustige, bij voorkeur landelijke thuis waar ze de nodige verzorging krijgt, maar ook de vrijheid heeft om van het buitenleven te genieten. Denk bijvoorbeeld aan een boerderij, een landelijke woning met een toegankelijke schuur of een andere veilige plek waar ze zelf kan kiezen of ze binnen of buiten verblijft. We zoeken iemand die Ushi accepteert zoals ze is, zonder verwachtingen op vlak van knuffelen of lichamelijk contact. Misschien groeit haar vertrouwen na verloop van tijd en zoekt ze zelf toenadering. Dat zou natuurlijk fijn zijn, maar mag niet het einddoel van haar adoptie zijn. Voor Ushi zoeken we vooral een plek waar ze zichzelf mag zijn, op haar eigen tempo, met de nodige zorg en aandacht.
