Adopt Valerie

Female · Young · 1 year

This is Valerie, a young foster with a heart of gold and a coat to fall in love with. Valerie is a small angora rabbit and you can tell right away: her soft, luxurious coat makes her a real fluff ball. But such a beautiful coat naturally requires some extra attention. Good and regular fur care is very important for Valerie, so she continues to feel comfortable and her coat remains nice and tangle-free. Valerie is still young and curious about the world around her. She looks around calmly with her gentle gaze, but can also be lovely stubborn from the corner. She enjoys attention, a quiet chat, and a safe environment where she can be completely herself. Because she is still so young, she has a whole future ahead of her. For Valerie we are looking for a loving home where they understand what an angora coat needs and where she can share her life with a nice, neutered buck. Playing together, resting together, and enjoying the good rabbit life - we wish that for her heartily. Valerie is a special girl with a big fluffy personality. Who will give this little angora lady the warm basket with a nice buck?

About Valerie

What life with Valerie looks like

Valerie is a large young adult rabbit waiting at Stichting Dierentehuis Vijfheerenlanden in LC Leerdam.

Rabbits are social animals — most shelters recommend adopting them in bonded pairs rather than alone. They need fresh hay daily, several hours of out-of-cage time, and rabbit-safe spaces to explore. They live eight to twelve years, longer than many people expect.

🇳🇱Adopting from Netherlands

Dutch shelters typically require a household assessment and an adoption contract. Animals are routinely sterilized, microchipped, and registered in the national pet database (NDG) before placement.

Frequently asked

Adopting Valerie, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Valerie?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Stichting Dierentehuis Vijfheerenlanden handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Valerie on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Valerie if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Stichting Dierentehuis Vijfheerenlanden will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Valerie already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most rabbits on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Valerie isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Stichting Dierentehuis Vijfheerenlanden early rather than rehoming privately; they know Valerie and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (NL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
