adoption requirements adoption process Now request this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Now request this dog! Vana can stay forever! Her story: The beautiful Vána with the brown-streaked fur had great luck and was able to travel to her foster home in Munich. There, she can be visited at any time. The little mouse learns diligently the dog 1*1 and can already walk well on a leash and cuddles happily. Vána captivates with warm, dark eyes and these very special ears, which reflect every one of her movements and concerns directly. During the photoshoot, she clearly showed what was really important to her: proximity, affection, and gentle cuddles were much more to her than perfect posing. She originally came from the Shelter in Fântânele. Her name is not chosen randomly. Vána stems from Sanskrit and means "forest" or "forest goddess." It symbolically stands for peace, naturalness, and a quiet, balanced strength—exactly what this female dog exudes. At about three years old and with a shoulder height of around 50 cm, she has a perfect size and brings a wonderful mix of calmness and affection. In her foster home, Vána shows herself to be exceptionally loving and relaxed. She appears to be a dog who can easily adapt to different living conditions. When meeting people, she responds with an open heart—often laying on her back to be stroked and enjoy closeness. With other dogs, whether male or female, she gets along well and moves socially secure within the pack. A compatibility with cats has not yet been tested, but can be checked if needed. Vána can carry her EU pet passport of course. This animal is vaccinated. This animal is microchipped.

About Vana

What life with Vana looks like

Vana is a large young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Vana, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Vana?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Vana on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Vana if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Vana already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Vana isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Vana and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
