Vasko

Husky · Male · Puppy · 3 months

Vasko is a 5-year-old husky born on October 29, 2020, who is microchipped and vaccinated. He was taken in because he displays resource guarding behavior with food found on the ground while on walks, and his previous owners found themselves overwhelmed by his reactions. They had rescued him a few months ago from a classifieds site; he had previously lived in a garden, on a leash. Vasko has not had an easy life, and this has left some marks. He does not immediately trust people, and he does not like to be handled when he is unfamiliar. He has recently begun to accept having treatments applied, and he enjoys them, so he will be able to progress in this area. The veterinarian we consulted upon his arrival suspects that he had an untreated giardiasis since he was a puppy, which affected the quality of his coat. He has been treated for this. We continue to observe him and will perform additional tests if necessary. The initial tests, however, have shown that he does not suffer from any serious illness that would explain the quality of his coat. As for the marks around his neck, they are the result of a 24/7 choke collar. It is not certain that his fur will regrow. Vasko has many great qualities. He can be left alone for a few hours without causing any destruction, he cries a little at first but stops quickly. He tolerates visitors entering his home perfectly, and he does not seem to display resource guarding behavior at his bowl (he does not do this at the shelter either, which we have no trouble retrieving when he has finished eating). He is very pleasant to walk, he does not pull on the leash. He is of a rather calm nature and settles easily. He was sometimes detached and had a good recall. The compatibility with other animals of the same species remains to be determined because we had to isolate him due to the giardiasis, but the initial tests were fairly good: he will be neutered soon to reduce the place that hormone competition takes in his interactions with other dogs. About Vasko

What life with Vasko looks like

Vasko is a small puppy/kitten husky dog waiting at 30 Millions d'Amis in Paris.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇫🇷Adopting from France

French refuges follow the SPA framework: adopters sign a cession contract that includes sterilization, vaccinations, microchip identification, and rabies passport. Fees are typically €150–€300. Many refuges work with rescue transport partners for cross-border placements.

Frequently asked

Adopting Vasko, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Vasko?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. 30 Millions d'Amis handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Vasko on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Vasko if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — 30 Millions d'Amis will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Vasko already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Vasko isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with 30 Millions d'Amis early rather than rehoming privately; they know Vasko and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (FR). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
