Also, this spring, our friends in Andalusia will again be hit by a flood of discarded hunting dogs. Many of the new arrivals are injured and sick, and for animal welfare workers in Southern Europe, the greatest hope—the change of the animal protection law—is already almost dead, as the government plans to exclude hunting, herding, and livestock guardian dogs from the new regulations. Our friendly Galga Vega also comes from a hunter who made the female dog work for him for years. Now, as Vega urgently needs dental treatment (because naturally, no one ever took care of her), and the kind seven-year-old has an infected mammary gland that needs to be removed, she is no longer suitable for her owner. Fortunately, he did not choose, like so many of his colleagues, the easy way. Often, the "Cazadores" take the gun, shoot their dogs; the traditional method is the disgusting hanging of greyhounds in trees, where they often suffocate in hours of agony, others abandon their loyal companions in the mountains, breaking their legs, ... Endless human-made suffering, subsidized by the government and disguised as tradition - it seems like a battle against windmills to want to do something about the terrible abuses related to hunting in Southern Europe. But even if we cannot change the world, we can change the small world of each individual dog - and now it's __NAME0's__ turn. Of course, our partners from Puntanimals take care that the friendly and cheerful female dog receives excellent veterinary care. And naturally, Vega finally gets the love and tenderness she has probably longed for her entire life. Vega seeks the company of animal welfare workers whenever she gets the chance. She likes to lie in the sun with her friends and grateful observes the volunteers during daily tasks. The female dog marked by years of suffering gradually gains a shiny coat, but much more importantly, the shine in her eyes has returned. Vega joyfully explores the small animal shelter of our partners, she likes to go for walks, enjoys the company of other dogs and lets all her friends know how good she feels now. Now we wish that the tender and very lovable dog lady may experience life as a beloved family dog. For this, the modest lady does not need much more than cheerful and active people who want to start the adventure of a new beginning with her.

Auch in diesem Frühjahr werden unsere Freunde in Andalusien wieder von einer Flut ausgemusterter Jagdhunde getroffen. Viele der Neuankömmlinge sind verletzt und krank, und für die Tierschützer in Südeuropa ist die größte Hoffnung – die Änderung des Tierschutzgesetzes – schon fast wieder gestorben, da die Regierung plant, Jagd-, Hüte- und Herdenschutzhunde von den neuen Regelungen auszuschließen. Auch unsere freundliche Galga Vega stammt von einem Jäger, der die Hündin über Jahre hinweg für sich arbeiten ließ. Jetzt, wo Vega dringend eine Zahnbehandlung braucht (weil sich natürlich nie jemand um ihre Pflege gekümmert hat) und die liebenswerte Siebenjährige eine entzündete Brustdrüse hat, die entfernt werden muss, taugt sie nicht mehr für ihren Halter. Zum Glück wählte er nicht, wie so viele seiner Kollegen, den einfachen Weg. Oft greifen die „Cazadores“ zur Waffe, erschießen ihre Hunde, die traditionelle Methode ist das widerliche Aufhängen der Windhunde in Bäumen, wo sie sich oft in stundenlanger Agonie zu Tode strangulieren, andere setzen ihre treuen Begleiter in den Bergen aus, wo sie ihnen die Beine brechen, … Unendliches menschengemachtes Leid, von der Regierung subventioniert und als Tradition getarnt – es scheint wie ein Kampf gegen Windmühlen, in Südeuropa gegen die schrecklichen Misshandlungen im Zusammenhang mit der Jagd vorgehen zu wollen. Aber auch, wenn wir die Welt nicht ändern können, wir können für jeden einzelnen Hund seine kleine Welt verändern – und jetzt ist Vega dran. Natürlich kümmern sich unsere Partner von Puntanimals darum, dass die freundliche und fröhliche Hündin tierärztlich bestens versorgt wird. Und natürlich bekommt Vega endlich die Liebe und Zärtlichkeit, nach der sie sich wohl schon ihr ganzes Leben gesehnt hat. Vega sucht die Nähe der Tierschützer, wann immer sie die Gelegenheit hat. Gern liegt sie mit ihren Freunden in der Sonne und beobachtet dankbar die Freiwilligen bei den alltäglichen Arbeiten. Die von den Jahren des Leids gezeichnete Hündin bekommt nach und nach ein glänzendes Fell, aber viel wichtiger, der Glanz in ihren Augen ist zurückgekehrt. Vega erkundet mit Freude und Neugier das kleine Tierheim unserer Partner, sie geht gern spazieren, genießt die Gesellschaft anderer Hunde und lässt alle ihre Freunde wissen, wie gut es ihr mittlerweile geht. Jetzt wünschen wir uns, dass die zärtliche und so liebenswerte Hundedame das Leben als geliebter Familienhund kennenlernen darf. Dafür braucht die bescheidene Lady nicht viel mehr als fröhliche und aktive Menschen, die mit ihr in das Abenteuer Neuanfang starten möchten.
