Velvet was taken in as a found cat and was born in approximately 2023. Unfortunately, he has a difficult history: his unusual tail position initially suggested that something was wrong. Examinations and X-rays eventually revealed an old hip fracture and a tail amputation. Due to the injuries, his back is severely strained and Velvet apparently had pain. Unfortunately, his tail continues to cause him problems. It bothers him and probably contributes to his discomfort, which is why a tail amputation is still pending at the animal shelter. We very much hope that this procedure will bring him relief and that he will feel much better afterwards. Physiotherapy for his back would be desirable in principle, but is not currently possible. Velvet tends to engage in displacement behaviors in some situations and can sometimes bite. This behavior is probably also related to his physical complaints, the pain and the severe tension. Despite his history, Velvet is a very special cat. He is super affectionate, enjoys human closeness and shows that he can be very affectionate and lovable. He needs people who understand his situation, respect his boundaries and give him the time to build trust and security. Velvet is FIV-positive, which must of course be taken into account when looking for his home. We wish for him a home with outdoor access, where a rather cat-free environment would be ideal. Since Velvet does not particularly like other cats, he should live as a single cat and not constantly meet many congeners. Small children should not live in his new home either, as his displacement behaviors are unpredictable. Velvet should finally get the chance to a home where he can relax and be accepted as he is. His tail operation is still pending at the animal shelter, but interested parties are welcome to contact him now. Maybe someone is waiting for him somewhere who will enable him to start anew.

Velvet wurde als Fundkater aufgenommen und ist ungefähr 2023 geboren. Hinter ihm liegt leider eine schwierige Geschichte: Seine auffällige Schwanzstellung ließ zunächst vermuten, dass etwas nicht stimmt. Untersuchungen und Röntgenaufnahmen zeigten schließlich eine alte Hüftfraktur und einen Schwanzabriss. Durch die Verletzungen ist sein Rücken stark verspannt und Velvet hatte dadurch offenbar auch Schmerzen. Leider bereitet ihm sein Schwanz weiterhin Probleme. Er stört ihn und trägt vermutlich zusätzlich zu seinen Beschwerden bei, weshalb im Tierheim noch eine Schwanzamputation ansteht. Wir hoffen sehr, dass ihm dieser Eingriff Erleichterung verschafft und es ihm danach deutlich besser geht. Eine Physiotherapie wäre für seinen Rücken grundsätzlich wünschenswert, ist momentan allerdings noch nicht möglich. Velvet neigt in manchen Situationen zu Übersprungshandlungen und kann dann auch einmal zubeißen. Vermutlich steht auch dieses Verhalten im Zusammenhang mit seinen körperlichen Beschwerden, den Schmerzen und der starken Verspannung. Trotz seiner Vorgeschichte ist Velvet ein ganz besonderer Kater. Er ist super verschmust, genießt menschliche Nähe und zeigt, dass er durchaus sehr anhänglich und liebenswert sein kann. Er braucht Menschen, die Verständnis für seine Situation haben, seine Grenzen respektieren und ihm die Zeit geben, Vertrauen und Sicherheit aufzubauen. Velvet ist FIV-positiv, was bei der Suche nach seinem Zuhause natürlich berücksichtigt werden muss. Für ihn wünschen wir uns ein Zuhause mit Freigang, wobei eine eher katzenarme Umgebung ideal wäre. Da Velvet andere Katzen nicht sonderlich mag, sollte er möglichst als Einzelkater leben und nicht ständig auf viele Artgenossen treffen. Auch kleine Kinder sollten nicht in seinem neuen Zuhause leben, da seine Übersprungshandlungen nicht vorhersehbar sind. Velvet soll nach all dem, was er bereits durchmachen musste, endlich die Chance auf ein Zuhause bekommen, in dem er zur Ruhe kommen kann und so genommen wird, wie er ist. Seine Schwanzoperation steht im Tierheim zwar noch bevor, aber Interessenten dürfen sich trotzdem schon jetzt gerne für ihn melden. Vielleicht wartet irgendwo genau der Mensch auf ihn, der ihm seinen Neustart ermöglicht.
