VENUS

Mixed Breed · Female

VENUS is a beautiful German Shepherd who once had a family, a home, and a place where she felt safe. However, life took a different turn: after the separation of her caretakers, they could no longer take care of her and she ended up living alone on a piece of land. That change deeply affected VENUS. She went from having companionship and love to loneliness and neglect. When she arrived at the association, she was very thin, anxious, and had a distant look in her eyes… as if she was still waiting for someone. After conducting tests, we discovered that her health had also suffered the consequences of abandonment: she has heartworms and muscle and joint weakness. Despite this, VENUS has not lost her sweetness. She is an extremely affectionate dog who seeks gentle comfort in the hand of whoever strokes her and finds solace in a voice that speaks to her with love. VENUS needs a quiet home full of love where she can recover gradually. She cannot make great physical efforts, so her walks should be short and relaxed. It would be ideal for her to have a home with a garden where she can rest outdoors, enjoy the sun, and, if possible, have a small pond or pool, because she loves water: there she relaxes, cools off, and seems to forget for a moment everything she has lived through. We know that VENUS will need special care and a family with means to cover her treatment costs, but we also know that her love and gratitude are priceless. She does not seek adventures or long walks; she just wants a corner of peace, a soft bed, and someone who can give her the love she was so lacking. VENUS deserves to grow old surrounded by love and care. Help her discover that, even after abandonment, there are still happy endings.

About VENUS

What life with VENUS looks like

VENUS is a adult mixed breed dog waiting at Huellas Callejeras in Spain.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇪🇸Adopting from Spain

Spanish protectoras generally include sterilization, all vaccinations, microchip ID, and EU pet passport in the adoption fee (typically €250–€400 for a dog, €100–€180 for a cat). Many maintain partnerships with rescue transport providers across the EU.

Frequently asked

Adopting VENUS, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about VENUS?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Huellas Callejeras handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw VENUS on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt VENUS if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Huellas Callejeras will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is VENUS already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if VENUS isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Huellas Callejeras early rather than rehoming privately; they know VENUS and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (ES). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
